trucker baby

cruisin in the back yard

Trucker Baby

On Monday, Brianne and her kids came and played. We went to that fun museum with them (they have a year pass!) and just played at home. Mayley loves to be pushed around in this little red car and she asked Kaci to ride with her this time. Mayley put her arm around her and Kaci assumed her trucker baby position with her elbow hanging out the door and they were off.

We also went to a baseball game with them. Bryan got some free SLC Bee's tickets and invited us. He also treated us to dinner at Crown King Burgers. Unfortunately, Kaci and I both got sick from our burger, but it tasted good at the restaurant. Aside from that, it was fun to go to a game again. Kaci really enjoyed all the clapping. For the most part, she just sat on my lap or Brad's and clapped. She is too cute! Thanks again Call Familia, we had fun!

This picture is courtesy of Bryan. He explained that he has always wanted to do that to someone on vacation but never really would. Thanks for the great pix!!

Making Music

Gateway Mall

Okay, everyone talks about the Gateway Mall here. I have been itching to go. So I finally just went. I want to go again. It's a nice outside mall with good stores. It also has a fun little place for Kaci to play. It's called the Discovery Museum. It's a lot like the Science Museum in Arizona. Smaller, but way fun. The first exhibit is one with like a zillion balls. Kaci was in heaven. We spent like a hour there alone. It was funny when I tried to leave, she wiggled free a couple times and when I finally walked to another exhibit she started scooching back to the ball exhibit. It was cool because there were clear tubes that went everywhere and you stuck the ball in them and so balls were going everywhere. Kaci sat a watched for a LONG time before she joined in the fun. I couldn't get her to let go of her ball, but she'd start to put it in and then take it back out of the tube. She's so cute. They also had a big magnet wall with tons of magnets, she liked that too.
We spent all day there. My camera ran out of battery, but I could have taken so many cute videos and pictures of her.

"Hikin' Hikin' Backpack"

In the words of my neice Lili, we used our "hikin hikin backpack" again on Saturday.

It was the first day of SUMMER and we hiked in SNOW and ate some of it. It was so cold on our feet. Kaci was asleep for most of the hike. I packed her in and Brad packed her out. While crossing a stream with her, I once got applauded for not falling off the log into a icey water. Pretty funny.

We also ran into an old lumberjack hacking down fallen trees on the trail. Brad helped him clear one log out of the way. He loved to chop up wood.

It was fun to go romping through the woods. We had a picnic lunch and came home smelling like wild flowers.

The Great Salt Lake

We went, we saw, we floated! Here we are at the GREAT SALT LAKE! We had a lot of fun. It's IMPOSSIBLE to sink in this thing. You float the minute your feet leave the ground. It really is worth a trip to experience that kind of buoyancy. I was sincerely fascinated, if you are intrigued you can click here to read all about it.
I don't know if you can see it, but we took this picture after we dryed off because salt had dried and clustered on our skin. I've never looked so white in my life. Kaci had a white beard from the water getting her chin. We looked so funny.

My brother-n-law took this really cool picture of us. We LOVE it. We had so much fun out there. Kaci still loves the water. She thought the water tasted so funny it would make her laugh when it would accidentally splash into her mouth.

Crazy Dream!!

So I had the wierdest dream! I dreamed that Nancy knew a place where you could ride a llama for a buck! Sweet! So I went with her and her family to the farm, but it wasn't just a llama farm it was this huge Arabian Temple that looked like a castle and there were llamas everywhere! I was stoked! But then this mean lady came out and was like "You can't ride the llamas, what are you guys doing here?" And Nancy told her "But the lady said we could come and ride the llamas, and feed them, and see the chickens and the pigs" Then the lady snapped back "No pigs! You can feed the llamas but that's it." So it was kind of wierd because the lady didn't want us to be there, but we had fun feeding the llamas, watch out they spit! (one got Kaci so she started spitting back at them)
Kaci wasn't so fond of the llamas, but she loved watching the giant Koi fish swimmin around in the pond.

And then the wierdest part was... This wasn't a dream at all! This is actually what my morning consisted of. Crazy, the situations you find yourself in.

Duck Attack!

The other day, Lynda, Kaci and I all went for a bike ride and ended up at a duck pond. It was Kaci's first encounter. She loved them. She even tried to scoot her way into the water to swim with them.

Since she liked them so much I went back a couple days later... but it was around lunch time. I figured we'd check out the ducks and then eat lunch, but the ducks had plans of their own.

I sat her down and took a picture. Then I scooted back to take a better one and the duck had started running towards her squaking like crazy. So I got closer again. The duck stopped and started to retreat, so I scooted back again to get a picture and then the duck rushed and started pecking at Kaci. Appearently the ducks were hungry too and thought Kaci looked tastey. Needless to say, I rescued Kaci before they could eat her alive and we fled. I think it'll be a while before we go back.

Date night with Daddy!

At work on Friday, Brad had the idea that mini golfing would be fun. So he took me and Kaci on a date. Kaci is really good at holding her lil pink golf ball. Unfortunately she's not quite a putter yet. She hung out in her stroller and Brad and I putted our little hearts out. It was lots of fun. And believe it or not, we had never mini golfed together before. Isn't that strange? Ya just don't do that in Hawaii. I'll admit, our surfing dates were a lot better, but this was fun too.

Bonfire in the backyard

The Calls got a fun protable fire pit. We are lovin' it! Smores every night! One night we had a cookout. Biscuit wrapped hotdogs and beans (well and a salad since we were just in the backyard). Kaci had her fill of beans and she's had a smore or two as well. She loves roasting! Bryan had some serious issues with his biscuit. He eventually just went inside and got a piece of bread.

Call Familia's New Fence!

We (as in Brad) helped Bryan build a fence around their super cute house in Tooele. You may remember that the last time we were in Utah we helped them paint their super cute house! While Brad and the boys labored under the sun, Kaci splashed in the pool with her Aunt Bri and cousin Hunter. It was a fun Saturday.

gotta love those cheeks!

It's RAINING!

Forecast since we have been in Utah, COLD (like the high is 60) with scattered showers and frequent bursts of frigid air. On June 12th, we went to Park City to go to the outlets and it was SNOWING up there. Crazy! Those outlets were great, just as wonderful as the Outlets at Anthem (they have an Adidas outlet Victoria!!) We would run from store to store because we were NOT prepared for snow. It was fun. On our way home we stopped at Temple Square and took a tour of the Tabernacle roof. I love that tour. I LOVE all the wild flowers and trees. Such a cool idea to make a building look like a mountain! We put Kaci in a patch of pretty red flowers, and she ate one while we snapped a picture. She eats everything. I once found an ear plug in her daiper. YUCK!

Kaci's UTAH POOF

When Lynda got surgery on her two arms and couldn't move them, my neice Abbie did the funniest thing. With a comb in hand, she said "Don't worry Grandma, I'll do the Utah poof on you." Ok, if a 5 year old knows about the Utah poof, that is hilarious!

Then at church last Sunday, I saw a lil girl Kaci's age with the Utah poof. No kidding, her mom had teased her few strands of hair to the max and she in fact had the poof!

In light of all this, I have been troubled about what to do with Kaci's bangs. They are getting long and scragally. I constantly wipe them out of her eyes. I bought lil bows to tie em back, but she doesn't have enough hair to hold em in yet. So, I decided to try a pony tail. And it worked! There's not a lot there, and you can hardly see it because her hair is so white, but I have found my solution. And, people have don't mistake her for a boy when she has her hair in a pony tail! So, here it is... Kaci's rendetion of the Utah Poof!

FHE Call Family Style

It was a CALL family gathering. Papa Call, Bryan Scott Call, and Brad Call... all the call boys. I think it is so funny that we have to distinguish each family by the father's name. In my family, there is only one boy (he's not married yet) and then my sister and and I who are married have different last names. Funny what marriage does, all the sudden you have more last names than you know what to do with! I try to distinguish Bryan Scott's Call family by saying the Call FAMILIA (he and Brianne served missions, he spoke Spanish and she spoke Portuguese so it seems fitting) and Brad's Call family (my family) as Call OHANA (as we got our start in Hawaii). And reserve the original Call Family for Papa Call. Blah, blah, blah!

Anyhow, all of us got together and ate a yummy dinner. Potstickers, Fried Rice, and Stir Fry (that's a Call Family thing, to have three meals for one meal, gives ya a nice variety). Then we played a lil baseball after jumping on the tramp. I don't want to brag, but we've got a lot of talent! Check out those kids hitting homeruns!!

Oh MY!

Her new face, on video! So cute!

Oh My!

Kaci has learned to make a new face. It's her "oh my" face. She first did it when we were playing blocks. She'd grab a block, toss it, and then put her hands on her face and say "Oh". It is adorable. Here's a picture of her in the action. It is so funny to watch her do it.
